Sheet Pile Marine Works

Sheet Piling (UK) Limited operate throughout the British Isles and Southern Ireland as both specialist piling contractors and principal marine works contractors where appropriate.

Main Image: Installation of sheet piles at Mayfield Farm, Heathrow as part of a reclamation/decontamination contract for the CAA Heathrow.

Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd. formed an alliance with Land and Water Services Limited to carry out the extensive sheet piling and dredging/decontamination works required.

A water tight wall of sheet piles was designed and installed by Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd. to compartmentalise the lake. A floating butyl liner connects the piles at each end of the lake and provides the flexibility to store variable quantities of clean or contaminated run off water from the aprons of Heathrow Airport.

The sheet pile interlocks were sealed using the Corus Haltlock interlock sealing system.

Marine Works

Dock wall stabilisation (right) works at Hendon Dock, Sunderland.

The contract works involve the design and installation of large diameter circular cells using Frodingham SW1A straight web sheet piles to stabilise the failing existing dock walls. On completion of sheet pile installation each cell was filled with approximately 2000 tonnes of sea dredged ballast over an average 5 hour period. Principal Contractor Montgomerie Watson/Balfour Beatty JV.

Marine Works

Construction of permanent sheet piled cofferdam (left) and steel bearing piles to form the centre pier support structure for the new Millennium foot bridge crossing the River Tees at Stockton-on-Tees.

A purpose designed structural steel template was fabricated by Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd. and floated into the River Tees. This was used to accurately position the permanent works piles during construction.

Steel 'H' bearing piles were driven within the circular cell using a five tonne hydraulic drop hammer to form the permanent works support system for the bridge.
