Dockside Development - Portishead, Bristol

Specialist contractor Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd is working with developer Persimmon Special Projects Westen on its Dockside mixed use development at Portishead, Bristol. The company's main works involve the installation of a high modulus sheet pile wall to provide a new quay to the Portishead Marina to facilitate berthing of boats and the construction of four and five-story apartments on the water's edge.

It supplied the Arcelor 1 8.2m long HZ97SA high modulus 'H' section king piles that comprise the main structural elements, combined with pairs of 14,75m long All B piles as infills. The new quay wall is approximately 110m in length. The firm has also undertaken the cosmetic re-facing of a 170m length of original sheet piled quay wall to give an additional 50 years design life whilst giving a fitting backdrop to the forthcoming development. Ove Arup is the designer of the works.
