Safely Does It
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd have been awarded the coveted Barratt West London Quarterly Safety Award for works carried out on the Barratt Flagship development at 'The Great Western Quarter' in Brentford London.
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd were awarded a subcontract for the Design, Supply and Construction of the Large Steel Intensive Sheet Piled Basement.
The subcontract works, valued at almost £1.5m involved the construction of approximately 900 L.M. plan length of Permanent Basement wall, and temporary bracing works, totalling some 1300 tonnes of steel.
Presenting the award to Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd was Mr Colin Brown, Senior Contract Manager for Barratt who commented: "Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd have been involved on the project for over a six month period, and during that time Barratt have inducted a workforce of some thirty four people. There have been no re-inductions, no safety warnings and no accidents of any kind. Sheet piles have been installed close to listed buildings, and approximately 350L.M. of the piling has been installed along the Network Rail Boundary. Barratt have been most pleased by the proactive approached exhibited by Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd throughout the work".
Mr Richard Virgo, Senior Project Manager for Barratt, added: "It has been a pleasure to work with Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd, who have a very experienced workforce, all of whom are long serving employees with virtually 100% being CSCS Card Holders. They have approached the works with a most positive "can do" attitude and a very safety conscientious attitude throughout. The management, represented on site by Mr David Gannon, have fully cooperated with our Contracts Team to ensure the works were completed in the most professional manner. Their expertise, particularly when preparing Method Statements for the works along the Network Rail Boundary, have been especially appreciated, and this has enable us to develop a good relationship with Network Rail which is proving to be of significant benefit to Barratt West London for the follow-on activities".
