Meet The Team

Andrew Cotton

Managing Director

Andrew Cotton is a Chartered Civil Engineer who, since joining the company as a Contracts Engineer in 2002, has progressed through the ranks to his current position of Managing Director, having been appointed to this position in 2012. Whilst Andrew is responsible for the entire management of the company on a day-to-day basis, he has a particular focus on new business development and winning new contracts, continually driving Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd on to the next milestone or key development in its timeline. Andrew’s favourite type of project is one that involves true collaborative working between a team of ‘can-do’ individuals with a positive mindset.

Andrew’s pet hate is a lack of attention to detail, which is why Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd’s projects are typically planned to perfection. Unsurprisingly, a quote that inspires him is Cristiano Ronaldo’s: “Dedication, hard work all the time, and belief.” When not at the helm, Andrew can be found watching and playing cricket and socialising with friends.

Andy Foy

Construction Director

Andy has handled many different construction challenges within steel sheet piling since joining Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd in 2009. He is responsible for the overall management of the construction division and its project delivery, overseeing construction projects ranging in value from £50,000 to £10,000,000 and delivering these within budget, safely and to the required timescales. Ultimately, Andy is responsible for Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd’s high quality of workmanship and impressive client satisfaction rates.

Andy has an ONC and HNC in Civil Engineering and is both an Incorporated Engineer (IE) and a qualified Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE). When not at work, he can be found using his Level 1 FA qualified football coach credentials as head coach of an under-13s football team, supporting Manchester United as a season ticketholder and exercising either at the gym or on long-distance runs.

Oliver Price

Pre-Construction Manager

Oliver joined Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd in summer 2019, utilising his BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering and IOSH Managing Safety qualifications to lead the estimating and pre-contract stage of a project, with a view to submitting highly focused competitive tenders, bids, designs and project proposals. With a concentration on always meeting clients’ requirements and carrying out all work in a compliant and industry standard-specific manner, he is a key part of our project team, whether managing and advising projects that require permanent sheet pile installations, or those needing temporary sheet pile works.

His first successful tender was for the Gipsy Patch Lane underbridge in Bristol and many more are sure to follow, as his favourite inspiring quote is Bruce Lee’s: “There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” This philosophy also sees him spending his time rock climbing and backpacking, whilst he can also be found in the kitchen rustling up dishes that do not contain his pet hate – Marmite!

Rod Gibbs

Sales Manager, Yard Manager, Transport Manager and Operations Co-ordinator

Rod has been part of the Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd operation since 1999, overseeing our sheet pile sale and hire operations and co-ordinating the supply of sheet piles and materials to various sites. Given that we hold around 8000 tonnes of both new and used sheet piles in stock and pride ourselves on getting stock out to clients quickly, that takes some doing! Rod has no pet hate, as he enjoys his job so much. It certainly enables him to use his CPCS crane supervisor, crane operator, Movax operator, slinger signaller and leader rig operator qualifications, not to mention his SSSTS, forklift and City & Guilds’ welder skills.

Rod is an avid Manchester United fan and also enjoys keeping fit in his spare time. He has four quotes that inspire him, including: “There is no elevator to success, you need to take the stairs” and “Go as far as you can see, when you get there, you’ll be able to see further.”

Stuart Dufton

Designer/Estimator

Stuart has been part of our successful team since 2009, charged with devising cost-effective design solutions that suit the individual requirements of our clients. His remit is to work with the client from first contact right through to the point at which designs and installations are being realised on-site, using his in-depth experience and BENG (Hons) qualifications. He also appraises all tenders for new sheet piling contracts, ensuring we submit competitively priced tenders. His favourite project was for the Stephen Perse Foundation – a job with which he was involved from the first discussions with the project engineers, right through the tender process and on to installation of sheet piles in a very restricted city centre location, at which point he was able to use webcam footage to ensure successful completion of his vision.

Stuart’s pet hate is practical refusal and the quote that inspires him is, “Don’t dwell on what happened; you can’t change it, so swipe and move on.” When not working, he enjoys walks that end at pubs and watching sport.
