Contract No:C1080
Client:Ferrovial Laing O'Rourke JV
Location:Battersea, London
Value:Approximately £500,000.00
Summary:Design, supply and installation of temporary sheet pile cofferdam to facilitate construction of new Underground Station Box.

Sheet Piling Contractors Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd were employed by Ferrovial Laing O’Rourke JV for the design and installation of a temporary sheet pile cofferdam to facilitate construction of new station box at Battersea as part of the Northern Line Extension project.

Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd worked closely with Laing O’Rourke during the tender process to develop a design solution consisting of a 3no sided cofferdam which was tied back to anchorages to facilitate excavation depth of up to 7.0m.

Using our vastly experienced in-house Design Department, Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd developed the concept and detailed design of the scheme including issuing of a Design Certificate. Laing O’Rourke Temporary Works Department carried out an independent check and issued a Check Certificate.

The works area contained numerous Man Made Obstructions and as such, an extensive proof excavation process was undertaken prior to sheet pile installation commencing.

The sheet piles were installed using a Bauer Telescopic Leader Rig complete with 105Te vibratory hammer which in turn was serviced by a 50Te Telescopic Leader Rig and MEWP to allow safe pitching of the sheet piles.

In total approximately 215.0m of temporary sheet piles were installed.

The works were completed during a three week period.
