New Giken ‘Z’ Pile Press Purchased
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd have recently completed the purchase of a Giken ZP100 Pile Press. The pile press is capable of installing 580mm to 630mm wide single Z piles.
The additional of the Z pile press to our existing fleet of U pile presses enables Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd to offer Clients the additional benefits of Z pile sections over traditional U pile sections.
The benefits of Z piles include the following:
- Excellent weight/modulus ratio resulting in economical sections and cost savings.
- No reductions factors required on structural properties to Eurocode 3: Part 5.
- High inertia values enabling reduction in deflections for serviceability analysis.
- Uniform section thickness for good driveability and greater durability performance.
- Incorporate the proven quality ‘Larssen’ interlock.
The new Z pile press allows Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd to have in-house installation plant which can take full advantage of efficient Z piles within the ‘pile pressing’ market particularly for permanent works solutions (i.e. sheet pile basements and retaining walls).
Commenting on the recent acquisition, Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd Chairman John Hull said: “With the gradual transition in the industry from U piles to Z piles following the introduction of Eurocode Design Standards, it was important to maintain our positions as the ‘leading specialist’ to offer clients the benefits of Z pile pressed solutions”.
The recent purchase is the first stage of our expansion plans into this expanding market.
