Jet Filter Weep Holes

The Jet Filter Weep Hole system is designed solely to prevent the erosion of backfill materials that can be caused by the transportation of material fines through the wall’s weep hole.

Historically, the build-up of excessive hydrostatic water pressure, beyond the sheet pile walls, could cause stability issues. The Jet Filter System was designed to relieve this pressure, whilst also preventing the loss of material fines. It has an unlimited design lift and ultimately provides an aesthetically acceptable solution for project managers to deploy.

Generally, the system is installed at the time at which the wall is constructed but it can also be fitted to existing structures. The location of the Jet Filter system may be chosen by the wall’s designer, to optimise the degree to which the hydrostatic pressure on the wall is relieved.

Relieving hydrostatic pressure is very important, as the design of most walls does not account for the pressure that will be applied to the wall by perched or trapped water within the backfill material.

The Jet Filter is a two-component system, consisting of an ABS plastic cylinder which is permanently installed and a replaceable filter element tube which can be inserted, locked in and then removed for maintenance/replacement purposes, by the filter assembly tool.

Jet Filter installation is quick and easy. All you need do is drill a 2.5-inch (65mm) diameter core hole where directed on the sheet pile. The four self-drilling stainless steel screws make installation both fast and simple. The Jet Filters should be installed approximately 1.2m to 2.4m apart, slightly above the mean high-water line.

The filter fabric provided with the system (Mirafi Filterweave 300) resists clogging, while maintaining flow in dynamic conditions.

The unique Jet Filter Weep Hole system is suitable for the following applications:

  • retaining walls
  • seawalls
  • bulkheads
  • shoring
  • erosion control weep hole drains

Jet Filters can be fitted to a wide range of materials, including steel, vinyl, composite, aluminium and wood.
