Sheet Piling Presentation at International Port Development Forum
Representatives from Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd attended the Port Development MEA Forum, held at the Movenpick Grand Al Bustan in Dubai (UAE). This international port development forum is aimed at advancing smart and sustainable port infrastructure, strengthening Middle East and African port development.
The forum was attended by more than three hundred industry leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders who discussed new strategies to reshape the port landscape in the Middle East and Africa. Attending on behalf of SPUK were Andy Foy (Construction Director) and Andy Ball (Associate Construction Director). Along with our friends and associates from Emirates Steel (EMSTEEL), they were amongst the forty international speakers scheduled to talk at the forum.

The Middle East and African regions are experiencing phenomenal growth in maritime trade and the forum serves as a pivotal platform to navigate the challenges and opportunities faced by emerging and established port operators and investors. With this growth, developing and modernising these busy and fast-growing ports, in a smart, sustainable and cost effective manner is paramount.
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd and Emirates Steel were showcasing their innovative, cost effective and time saving methods of Tubular & Steel Sheet Pile Quay Wall installation. SPUK have implemented these methods to great effect, on a number of harbour, port and quayside development projects across the UK and Eire.

Our Construction Directors and their counterparts from Emirates Steel gave a presentation detailing the benefits of Tubular & Steel Sheet Pile Quay Walls, showcasing various completed Quay Wall projects throughout the United Kingdom. The presentation showcased both the Emirates Steel Z Section Steel Sheet Piles as well as our own in-house sheet pile design and piling installation techniques.
Commenting on the International Port Development Forum, SPUK Managing Director Andrew Cotton said:
“With maritime trade steadily increasing over the past decade, significant investment is pouring into port infrastructure and port expansion projects across the globe. Modernising and expanding ports, both in the Middle East and Africa, and here at home in the UK, is vitally important. Operating capacity has to match industry growth.”

“At Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd, we have been involved in several maritime expansion and upgrade projects. When our friends at Emirates Steel asked us to attend the Port Development MEA Forum and present one such project case study to the attendees, we were delighted to team up. Andy Ball and Andy Foy were on hand in Dubai to speak with other attendees to promote Sheet Piling as a viable and sustainable option for port upgrades and expansion projects.”
