Supporting Local Children’s Charities at Christmas
We are delighted to announce that for the 2022 Christmas Holidays, in lieu of corporate Christmas Gifts for our customers, we have decided to support two local Children’s charities. Benefitting this year are Derian House Children’s Charity, who are based in Preston, Lancashire and Unique Kidz and Co. who are based in Morecambe, also in Lancashire.
Founded in 2009, Unique Kidz and Co was set up by two mums, Denise and Jane, who were unable to find suitable childcare for their own disabled children. Denise has two boys; the eldest is 17 and has autism, whilst her youngest is 13 and has global delay along with severe learning difficulties. Jane has three children and her middle daughter, aged 21, has Rett Syndrome, epilepsy and severe learning difficulties.
Denise and Jane founded Unique Kidz and Co to be able to provide their children, and lots of other local children, with the chance to socialise and play with their friends and to allow them to return to work. The aim of the charity is to advance the social and play opportunities of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, and to include their siblings.
Derian House Children’s Hospice provides respite and end-of-life care to more than 450 children and young people across the North West.The team at Derian do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week and never close to those who need help. Their support extends right across the family to brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents.
Derian look after children and young people right up until their 26th birthday offering palliative care, respite stays, day care, holidays and end of life support. They continue to offer transition support for those young people who are leaving their care up until their 28th birthday ensuring they have a well-established network of support in their community.
