Health and Safety Newsletter – November 2018
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd are delighted to launch a new monthly Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Newsletter as the next step in improving our own health, safety, environment and quality communications strategy. So far this year we have implemented various improvements to further build on the RoSPA 2018 Silver Award we achieved earlier this year. Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd have continued to lead the way in the industry from implementing a new best practice policies and procedures.
We demonstrated our commitment to training and continuous development of all employees with the delivery of a three day Giken Training Course earlier in the year. The course was run by Giken’s own in-house training expert, Mr Iwai, who is based in the Giken company head office in Japan. Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd fund and provide a wide range of training for all employees ranging from General Health and safety awareness and relevant occupational NVQ’s through to management courses, honour degree and masters degree courses to ensure we have one of the most well trained, competent and able workforce in the industry.
Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd have continued to improve on our health and safety performance by further investing in innovative technology to eliminate hazards altogether. With the procurement of a range of Giken Silent and Vibration Free Piling Equipment over recent years the company has been able to eliminate loud noise and vibration on a wide range of environmentally sensitive projects. The company procured a second Kowan ZU100 Silent Sheet Pile Press earlier this year due to the success and popularity of our current silent and vibration free piling methodology. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to the health and safety of our workforce and ensuring our workers are not exposed to any unnecessary hazards.
With the exclusive procurement of the Long Reach Sheet Piling Rig we are able to reduce the overall amount of time that workers are at risk working on the side of a live carriageway, the number of vehicles deployed to site and the level of vehicle traffic interrupting the flow of traffic on the main carriageway. This is achieved as the rig is able to stand on the existing carriageway and drive the steel sheet piles where required without the need for extensive enabling works and Working Platforms.
The company has successfully retained the Achilles and CHAS Accreditation whilst adding SMAS, Acclaim, Constructionline Gold and ISO9001 Accreditations to the companies growing portfolio. These provide assurance to our clients, suppliers and stakeholders of our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality performance on even the most complex and large-scale projects. We are continuing to implement further improvements and the company expects to announce further accreditations as these improvements are developed.
